Chicagos Need for Healing Environment
Article by Daniel Todman
A healthy environment leads to a healthy life. Healing environment is a term used by medical experts to refer to the physical setting of a medical facility that supports patients and their families in coping up with the stress factors of hospitalization. Neuroscience and environmental psychology supports the concept that psychologically supportive environment helps patients recover more quickly.
Healing environment is one of the current demands on healthcare construction. Green decorating is considered to promote a healing environment because of its natural being. Healing environments were once known as hospitality healthcare design way back in the 80s. These are environments that possess the quality of a restorative and conducive setting for physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual healing, as well as its aesthetic quality.
Medical research shows that spacious areas and green decorations have nurturing and therapeutic effects which help reduce stress. Patients exposed to nature are more likely to recover faster when personally and directly put in natural environment while undergoing treatment.
This is the reason why medical centers have high demands for healthcare construction services. Chicago healthcare construction firms are only few of those healthcare developers who understand the advocacy of promoting healing environments among hospitals. The primary goal of this campaign is to transform ineffective health care settings to more effective ones. It is to this purpose that healthcare construction companies all over the world must understand the health effects of healing environments.
Advocating healing environments should be one of the top priorities of hospital construction companies. Chicago, along with other major cities, is getting more concerned about health and wellness, leading the quest to create healing environments through creative use of evidence-based design. This type of constructing healthcare buildings demands agreement on the part of the contractor, the hospital owner and the medical experts point of view.
To be one of the most effective healthcare developers, Chicago healthcare construction company managers must know how to incorporate the healing environment program into every healthcare construction project they deliver. It is also evident that a healthcare construction company relies on its professional staff that meets the demands of the any projects at hand. With experienced healthcare construction professionals, clients are assured of cost-effective, high quality results without putting peoples general health at risk.

How to Plant and Successfully Grow Grapes
Article by Jay Harvey
Doesn’t the thought of relaxing with a bottle of great tasting wine sound luxurious? How good will that sense be if you have made the wine yourself. Planting and growing a successful grape vine is not as complicated as it might seem, and it is the first step in making this dream a reality.
You must decide how big or little you want your vineyard to be. If you are just getting started it is a good idea to plant only a few vines. It takes about ten vines to make homemade wine since most homemade wines are made in five- gallon batches. Bare-rooted dormant grapes are available from nurseries and it is probably best to start with these. These vines will usually have grown in the nurseries’ own fields. Buy and plant your vines in the early spring when the weather is most suitable. The rains of early spring will give your vines chance to settle before the main growing season begins. The vines must be kept damp until planting this can be achieved by spraying them with water.
It is easy and straight forward to plant your vines. You will need to dig a hole large enough to contain the root system. Make sure that all the buds on the vine are obove the soil level. Carefully support the vine while you gently pack down the soil. It is important that all air pockets are removed from around the vine’s roots. If you leave a slight depression around the base of the vine, it makes it easier to water them. After the vine is well planted in the soil, you do not need to water the dormant vines if the soil is damp.
When the vines starts to show signs of life you need to ensure that the soil is kept damp and does not dry out. Sometimes if you get a few good soaking showers, you may not have to water your vines. But always make that there is enough rain and supplement by watering if you feel that it is needed. Light soils will always require more watering. If the soil is clay based you must be more economical as the clay will retain water much longer. Whatever the soil good drainage is a must. With good drainage over watering is much less of a problem.
Maximising the sunlight and air flow for the vine is another aspect of being a successful grape grower. Plant you vines in areas that are unaffected by shade and restricted airflow ie in the lea of trees or other structures. If plants do not get enough sunlight they cannot undergo photosynthesis. Carbon dioxide is converted into sugar by photosynthesis. Sugar in the grapes will ferment into alcohol. Lack of sunlight and poor air circulation will lead to fungal diseases.
It is an realizable reality for you to grow grapes successfully. You attention will be required throughout the year. Put in the time and effort over the three years it takes for your first crop and the grapes will be sweet and the wine memorable.

Gods Lessons on the Social Environment and Influence
Article by William Jordan
Since writing “Who will Bail out the Hood” and “Chilling Facts about the American Black Male” and not providing a solution or a key to changing the status quo writing seem useless. I once heard “If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem” and some question the idea of being negative. People are not to concern with negativity and the positive faith fill world we reside in.(Really) So being men of faith why not go to God for the answer wish that was what happen but it’s not, yes the answer came from God but not because it was sought out it was a lesson. While warming the car for my wife most mornings and observing through the day the daily actives of my neighborhood and wishing it could change. As result of the past, we live and what could only be call the ghetto (hood) and seeing the negative effects of the environment on the young and old. There was a young lady who became noticeable because she left for school at five in the morning she was alone and not running and a group the first thought was how dangerous then the vision came she wants out. That’s when the word of God came to mind that God was the first to teach the danger of environment and it affects on mankind.Social environment has been proven to have an effect on living and the choices we make as individuals simply put your social surrounding help form your moral character. The lessons that follow are God’s teaching or decisions on separating from bad environments either by living Godly in the mist of bad social environments or separation.God’s Lessons on the Social EnvironmentLesson One: Enoch, “And Enoch walked with God and he was not for God took him” (Genesis, 5, 24) this is a lesson on being different when surrounded by evil, regardless of his environment he lived for God. Lesson Two: Inheritance, Noah Enoch’s great grandson found favor with God and was commission to build the ark ” And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh has come before me the earth is filled with violence through them, behold I will destroy them with the earth. Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shall thou make in the ark, (Genesis, 6, 13, 14) that save mankind from extension. Lesson Three: Abram, Man’s lost of dominion continues the rain of evil because of man’s desire to be Gods rather than serve their creator leads to another call of separation. God calls Abram “Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee.” (Genesis, 12, 10) As the story goes Abram took Lot with him and Lot chose to live and Sodom. Sodom was a wicked city that would soon suffer destruction because of the evil that was present there. “And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in which Lot dwelt. It was too late for Lot’s daughters they had been influence by living and Sodom.Jesus Teaching on Social EnvironmentThe Parable of the Sower: This is a great example of the effects of social environment.” And he spoke many things unto them in parables saying, And behold a sower went forth to sow; and when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side; and the fowls came and devoured them up: Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth; and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth.”These are just two of my examples of environment and the affect it has on life and living moral or according to God’s way. In the beginning of this article there was a statement about solutions being a recovering drug addict the word God has taken on new meaning because having a God with whom a relationship can be formed has made the different and having a new life or not having one. This has been my solution and it has work for millions, two of physiology greatest minds William James and Carl Jung has suggested this as a way to change the impossible life. Dr. Jung had this to say to a patience name Roland H.” When Roland H. had asked Jung if there was any hope for him Jung “told him that there might be, provided he could become the subject of a spiritual or religious experience” this Roland H did and the rest is history because upon this foundation the Twelve Steps where form which has influence many to make changes that revolutionize their lives most have taken a third step in which they turn their life over to God.The Bible is full of the effects of environment on society and social choices even if you are not Christian the lessons are a study in environment and choices to live a moral or immoral life. Even men who claim to have no belief have found God and seen their lives change. Change lives are the key to changing the social environment of a neighborhood or a cultural. This article will have a part Two:

The Short-term effects of the âGreen Economyâ
Article by Angel
In the early 18th Century, the Industrial revolution started but few people felt its effects until 20 years later. This time, we have all heard about the “Green economy,” although most of us are still waiting to enter it. What is the “Green Economy,”, and what could be its affects? Thinking “Green” is not only a trendy way of thinking, but a probable way out of the economic mess our societies face, after the breakdown of our previous economic system. Solely because the “Green” economy, is the only way forward, if the effects of the industrial revolution on our environment, are too be reversed. One major area of the “Green” Economy is the reinvention of how we use our resources, and how we create a sustainable economy. Simply moving away from our dependence on oil, coal and nuclear energy dependence, without affecting the current way we live now. This thinking is not feasible, because our existing “Green” technology will never substitute more traditional energies, until we start using it and develop it through our use of these technologies. Simply meaning we have to “change,” from a consumer society, to a part consumer society that consumes wisely and not recklessly.
Meaning we have to save energy, whilst implementing new energies until they develop enough to match our expectations, if we still want to live the way we did before the crash of 2008. Otherwise, we have to travel less distances, consume less, recycle more andultimately create new industries that provide work for those employed in now obsolete industries before the “Green” Revolution. This includes the automobile, coal, steel and plastics industries. Solar Energy is the natural successor to replacing most of our traditional energy sources. it is relatively expensive to install, but the benefits are long term, because its free energy. One drawback is that solar energy depends on us cutting back, and saving energy as well, in a society were electrical appliances are common. Therefore we have to step back in time and either depends on more energy saving products or simply turn off many of the gadgets and appliances in our homes, that make life more convenient. This is a lifestyle change that depends on us using less, and working more leaving perfectly good appliances in our garages or basements. Already, wehave the technology to build hydrogen, or solar powered Cars, yet most of us drive petrol based Cars and our automobile industries depend on selling petrol based Cars. An industry that employs hundreds of thousands of people, that in economies facing high unemployment, somehow need to switch over to using these energies, without adding more unemployed to our faltering economies. Green “transport” means that we may have to travel less, use more public transport and rethink the way we use our cars. Simply because existing “green” technology, will not match the way we are used to traveling now. But will develop, like the petrol based automobile did, step by step over a period of time. We need to change our attitude towards the way we use transport, and sacrifice our dependence on the automobile as it is today, before we reap the benefits of this revolution in transport.
Now we all face the prospect of economic uncertainty, and know that its going to get tough for many of us. Perhaps, its time to look at history, and see what ways our ancestors survived similar crisis’s. One ancient and trusted method is bartering. Bartering has been part of our economic activity, since we first settled, and started to develop on this planet. Until money was invented, bartering was an essential part of trade, and kept communities alive, in times of famine and war. In recent years, bartering became common in communities where money was hard to come by, or even non existent. In the early to mid-1990′s, many Citizens in the former Soviet Union, were paid in cash and goods and it was a common sight in the rural East to see people barter the products theymade. Countries barter products, in the late 1990′s Indonesia traded a small aircraft for the equivalent value in rice and Chili’s from other Asian countries. New Zealand supplied Iran with fresh lamb, in exchange for oil, based on the international price for both produce. In bothcases, this “trade” worked. In the pre October 15th economy, Banks and Stockbrokers did in reality “trade” stocks and assets, without the use of cash. Bartering or “trading” has been a part of globalized trade and commerce, its just that it has not reached main street, because main street had credit.

Bartering or “trading” has been a part of globalized trade and commerce, its just that it has not reached main street, because main street had credit. Bartering can also solve food problems. If you lack the cash, or the credit to buy food, then perhaps you can trade the goods you do not need for food. Cash strapped communities could form cooperatives, and trade unwanted possessions into food. This basic approach to trade, works as long as it is organized.

Environment public relations initiatives serve to try and set the human race on the proper course
Article by Kevin Waddel
The environment is in a seriously bad state in this day and age. Despite many technological and scientific advances in recent years, it has become increasingly difficult for the natural world to continue operating at its normal rate. With the recent oil disaster in the Gulf, the human race’s increasingly harmful influence becomes apparent. Humans do not like to think of themselves as wasteful, or as doing outright harm to any person, group, or other entity. But the fact of the matter is that human beings have been causing a widespread amount of destruction with regard to the environment for hundreds of years. But the impact has been negligible, until the Industrial Revolution allowed the human race to create more devices that can harm the environment than ever before. The by product of the steam engine, and the automobile, and the mass production of goods has been an increased release of harmful materials into the atmosphere, or directly into the sea or the ground. This is seen by many people to be an inevitable side effect of the human race’s continued advancement. But what these people fail to realize is that if the human race is intent on its forward march into the arms of scientific and technological progress, they have to be aware that the impact that this creates is a negative one, and that appropriate measures have to be taken to ensure that the damage is not permanent or long lasting. If this happens to be the case, then the human race is doomed and future generations will not be able to enjoy the many natural wonders that we get to experience on a daily basis.
Therefore, it should come as no surprise that many individuals who are concerned about the path that the human race is taking have banded together in support of the environment. Many of these individuals form advocacy groups that lobby their local and federal governments for reforms that will make the world a better place. In service of these lofty goals, many of these green groups have begun starting environment public relations initiatives, often governed by a fully qualified and licensed firm that specializes in the somewhat unique field of environment public relations. By doing so, public advocacy groups are taking a firm and positive step in righting the many wrongs that have plagued the environment for so many years. These groups have become fed up with the government’s unwillingness to intervene on behalf of the environment. They have also grown weary of the many corporations who routinely and maliciously do what is in their own best interests at the considerable expense of the natural world’s well being.
Therefore, it should come as no surprise that many of these environment public relations initiatives, which are often governed by a fully qualified and licensed firm that specializes in the somewhat unique field of environment public relations have started to turn heads. Many businesses are taking notice, and have started to clean up their act in hopes of avoiding an environment public relations disaster, similar to the one that the companies that were at fault for the recent oil spill in the gulf experienced after they almost ruined an entire ecosystem. In this regard, through shame and the threat of negative public opinion, many of the recent environment public relations initiatives that have been launched by concerned green advocates have been an unequivocal success. They must continue in order to save the environment.

Green Bags- Wear Your Attitude
Article by Suzanne Macguire
Green lifestyle is the norm of the day. Such has been the impact of the eco-revolution that consumer products and tastes have been revamped altogether. The fashion industry has been considerably affected by the green revolution, justifying the increasing obsession amongst Americans for green bags.
Green bags are often made of non woven polypropylene plastic which makes them last longer. Designer bags will always be a rage but green bags are no less cool. Besides, these bags are now being designed by high-end designers, thus giving a big boost to the green revolution. Hollywood has welcomed with open arms the revolution in the form of green bags or eco bags.
Green bags are not just green; they are available in multiple colors and can be easily folded to fit your purse. They are light-weight but strong enough to bear the load of your grocery shopping. Nowadays, reusable shopping bags are being manufactured from a variety of products like airline seats, hemp, rag, recycled juice-packs etc. the best thing about green bags is that it can be made out of anything- rag or waste and doesn’t cost a fortune as compared to exclusive designer lines.
Promotion of green bags has been on a roll and businesses are considering whether they can be distributed free throughout major retail chains. The only obstacle behind this is the minimal cost of plastic bags which is making businessmen think twice before giving the ‘green’ signal. At present, most retail chains recommend buyers to purchase reusable shopping bags at a nominal rate. Often, people are unwilling to spend extra for purchasing reusable shopping bags when free plastic bags are at hand. Offering free reusable shopping bags might be difficult at present, but growing public consciousness will surely help to ward off this little obstacle lying on the way to a green world.
Suzanne Macguire is an expert writer and environmental activist, promoting the use of green bags.
How to Correctly Plant a Tree
Article by Bob Kooyenga
I am a professional landscaper and I have planted quite a few trees. I have seen so many trees that will just die within a few years due to the fact that they are planted incorrectly. There are many different opinions on how to plant a tree, but there are a lot of things that I have personally seen that will kill a tree over time. Trees can be choked with the rope that is around the ball, the roots can be contained so they wont grow, there are many things that can go wrong with planting a tree. This guide will teach you what you need to know so your tree will not die.
Step One: Dig the Hole
Dig a hole that is about two feet wider than the ball of the tree you will be planting. So if the ball is 4 feet wide, dig the hole 6 feet wide. The hole should be just deep enough so that the top of the ball is about one inch above ground level. If the dirt is very hard and clay like, then the hole should be about twice as wide as the ball of the tree because it will be more difficult for the roots to move through that harder soil at a young age.Step Two: Take Care of the Ball
Once the hole is the correct depth and width, remove the cage from the ball and then the tree should be rolled or set into the center of the hole and be straightened upright. To keep the tree straight upright, have someone hold the tree up while you throw dirt into the hole on the side that the tree is leaning, this will make it stand upright. Next, the burlap on the ball needs to be correctly removed. Cut the burlap off as low on the ball as you can. I do not take this off with the cage because often dirt balls fall apart and this makes it more difficult to plant. Make sure all the rope is off so it does not choke the tree as it grows. The cage and burlap need to come off of the ball so it does not restrict the growth of the roots as the tree gets older.Step 3: Fertilize and Water
The tree needs to be fertilized before it is fully buried. Take a 5-5-5 or a 10-10-10 fertilizer and take one handful for smaller trees or two handfuls for larger trees and sprinkle it in the hole around the ball. Finally, finish filling in the hole with dirt. As you fill in the hole, pack it down with your foot so the dirt is properly compacted and can support the tree. When the tree is fully buried, water the tree very generously. This will help the fertilizer soak in as well as make sure the tree has enough water, especially if its a hot season or has not rained in a couple days. This is how to correctly plant a tree!
