postheadericon Internet Growth Processes and Technical Environments

Article by Tuch Gallucci

The method of Net application growth is critical to the success of net-based mostly projects. The proper processes cannot be enforced unless technical environments are properly setup. Technical environments are required for growth, take a look at and production.

Net purposes structure is often in 3-tiers. Purposes are developed on NT platforms, and deployed to production on UNIX platforms. Without streamlined procedures and proper surroundings settings, deployment and testing just isn’t solely a frustrating experience, but in addition a serious detriment in software failure and budget overrun.

Development and take a look at environment may be powered by less powerful computer systems, however the configurations needs to be the identical for all three environments. Growth and take a look at environments must be populated with manufacturing data periodically.

Improvement Setting

Function – The event atmosphere is a spot where improvement staff develops and tests the applications. If functions are developed on NT, deployment to UNIX atmosphere helps developers to port NT functions to UNIX atmosphere and test UNIX specific duties, equivalent to shell scripts and cron jobs.

Safety Considerations – Growth staff should have full management of and entry to the atmosphere, although set up of new software program needs to be consulted with UNIX admin and DBA.

Take a look at Environment

Role – The check atmosphere is a place where QA group (configuration management and software program testing practices deployment. The deployment of large and sophisticated applications might take many trials.

Safety Issues – QA group is absolutely responsible for the check environment. Improvement workforce should not be aware of the existence of the test environment. In reality, development group members are often concerned with deployment to check environment largely as a result of organizations pattern to position staff with less technical expertise on QA team.

Production Setting

Function – The manufacturing surroundings is a place where you serve your customers. The deployment from check to production should be automated using deployment scripts to avoid the potential human errors and to reduce the deployment cost.

Security Issues – Each development staff and QA workforce should not be conscious of the existence of production environment. It’s the sole responsibility of operation staff to maintain the production environment.

The procedures and technical environment settings described above have been proven to be useful in eliminating many issues in web-based mostly system implementation. The profitable implementation of the procedures, nevertheless, depends upon management commitment and the technical competency of all groups involved.

postheadericon Benefits of a Collaborative Work Environment

Article by Brian Keating

The configuration of a traditional office environment can hinder the way companies work and conduct business. The idea that people are expected to work together is challenging in a traditional work space. The segregation of employees and the politics associated with the workplace hierarchy all fail to unify a workforce. Many businesses are turning to modern office remodels as a solution to create a more collaborative work environment.

There are many benefits to having a collaborative work environment, but lets first discuss the challenges and setbacks associated with a traditional office–one that is composed of cubicles and private offices. Since each workplace has different work styles, the work environment must best suit each individual. When each person is confined to a cubicle or private office, not all work styles are satisfied. In turn, a business loses workplace productivity and experiences a decrease in collaborative efforts among employees.

A modern office environment creates opportunities for collaboration–an essential component to having a successful business with satisfied employees. No longer do people need to be secluded in cubicles or offices in front of a personal computer to be productive and successful at their jobs. Research has shown that more people prefer an open, modern office environment as opposed to a traditional, closed-off space.

Benefits of a collaborative work environment apply to employees of all ages, whether they are Gen Y or Baby Boomers. The following benefits are seen most often with open, collaborative spaces:

• Collaborative work environments tend to connect the workplace, bringing about a sense of community regardless of department or rank. Everyone feels included and part of a team, and aware of happenings in the workplace.

• Workers are more productive in a collaborative environment. Not only does it invite collaboration of ideas, but an open environment decreases procrastination and distraction.

• When a workplace promotes collaboration it enables more opportunity for mentoring, learning and development.

In order to reap the benefits of a collaborative work environment there must be a balance. People still need access to private work spaces, an escape from distractions and a balance between interaction and privacy. To best achieve a collaborative work environment, private work spaces for independent work should be paired with open and inviting with areas for interaction and collaboration.In the end, it all comes down to who’s the most innovative in how products Innovation drives growth, productivity and success. postheadericon Orange Park Toyota drivers are seeing green

Article by Darren Northam

The green revolution is upon us, and there’s no turning back now. As soon as the recession cut out, all of the major automakers made a huge vie for green driving. Technology is progressing at a quick rate these days, so the research necessary to accomplish the goal of zero emissions has become less costly. Orange Park Toyota drivers have already enjoyed many of the benefits that come with owning a hybrid vehicle. Yes, the Prius made the first stab at spectacular fuel efficiency, and it continues to be the market leader in greenness, reliability and general drivability. Whether the Prius continues to lead the industry in green driving is currently up in the air with the launch of a new fleet of electric vehicles occurring this year. However, new research by MIT physicists shows that the Prius trumps electric cars in many ways, but the ones that count the most are emissions and cost to the owner. According to the research, Chevy’s Volt may not be able to compare to the award-winning Prius. Part of the rationale is the use of coal to power electric mills everywhere. Florida used cars should enjoy plenty more sales of Prius units.

For Orange Park Toyota drivers, the research results are both heartening and disheartening. It would have been nice if we could find a new standard in driving that helps cut down on emissions, but it looks like the Chevy Volt isn’t it. According to a recent article in Tainted Green, “Determining emissions from conventional hybrid is straightforward. Researchers for the MIT Energy Initiative found that carbon dioxide emissions from hybrids are 33% lower compared to gasoline engines. Figuring out emissions from EV’s, however, is more complicated, since it depends on how electricity is generated. If a plug-in hybrid electric car, like the Chevy Volt, is charged by carbon-free power, it would have 66% less CO2 emissions compared to gasoline engines. But if the recharge relies on coal-fired power, the emissions from plug?in hybrids are higher than the convention hybrids. And in spite of gains in renewable power, coal-fired power plants still accounted for 45% (and natural gas plants for 24%) of 2010 electricity generation. Using EV’s will not significantly decrease CO2 emissions until nuclear and renewable electric generation replaces fossil-fueled power plants.” Owners of Florida used cars are glad to hear that their vehicles are still extremely relevant.

In the end, no one knows exactly what will come of the EV revolution this year. I know that Orange Park Toyota dealers will still have great Prius sales until Chevy and Nissan can prove that they have launched the new standard in driving. Florida used cars will continue to be relevant until that day, when the entire driving paradigm will shift into the future and help push more progress in the driving industry. It won’t matter; in the next 20 years, we’ll all be driving around in automatic cars on tracks anyway. Then we definitely will not have to worry about these things.

Article by Shawn Driscoll

DESIGNING YOUR SUCCESS ENVIRONMENT

“It is impossible to reach a future ideal goal if the present is not set up to support it”–Laura Berman Fortgang

Whether we realize it or not, the results we are getting in our lives today are fully supported by the environments in which we live and interact. Our environments are PERFECTLY DESIGNED to support the results we are currently getting. In order to change and sustain new results, we have to change our environmental support systems to be in alignment with this new way of being and doing.

Environments, as used here, are not just our external physical surroundings like our home or office, but also include our relationships, our personal frame of reference (internal thoughts, beliefs, ideas, etc..), our interests and activities. In order to fully attain our desired vision, we must examine how all of our environments can support and sustain the future we see for ourselves and then begin to make the changes necessary. The key here is that in order to get new results, we have to take a new approach. Just relying on willpower, self-discipline does not work because it only deals with one aspect of our environment–our inner thoughts. Without making changes in other areas, pressure to stay the same will outlast the will to change. Nearly every time.

Every goal has an environment to support it. Consider your goals and vision for your life. Get a clear picture in your mind of yourself with the results you want in your life. Now, think about what your environmental supports look like as you envision a different future. For example, if you are envisioning yourself as a healthy and fit person, consider what your physical environment looks like as this person (what things are present there? what is no longer present?), and your relationships (who are you interacting with? Who is supporting this new you?), what thoughts and feelings are you having?, what activities are you engaged in?. Once you start to go through the picture, it becomes clear that there is MUCH MORE to being a fit and healthy person than just having the willpower to eat right and exercise. You become a fit and healthy person by creating an environment that if FIT FOR a healthy, fit person. The same is true with any other goal or result you want to get, be it relationships, career, financial, etc…Design the right environment and the results you want will follow.

Now it’s your turn. Select a goal, personal vision, or result you are passionate about, but perhaps stuck on. Get a clear picture in your mind about what you are trying to achieve. Then, examine the Environment lists below. Consider what elements are already aligned to support your vision and which need to be re-aligned. Make note of your thoughts and observations:

1. What in your current environment will help you to attain your vision? [put a + next to the item]

2. What hinders you? What currently is a drain for you? [put a - next to the item]

3. How can you shift to create environments that inspire, rather than drain you?

postheadericon From the conference room to the classroom, green cleaning is enhancing productivity

Article by Keby Boyer

The revolution is alive and well! Terms like green cleaning, organic, and biodegradable are no longer reserved for treehugger types – they’re now an accepted part of our vernacular. We now live in a world where meat labels make sure you’re aware that no hormones or antibiotics were used to feed your future dinner and green cleaning products stress the fact that they don’t contain harmful chemicals and contaminants that can be detrimental to your health. As a society, we’re more aware than ever that every product we use and consume has a significant impact on our health and subsequently our productivity.

So it comes as no surprise that commercial cleaning companies are embracing the green revolution. But it’s not because they’re bandwagoners. No, they’re simply satisfying clients who are demanding healthier employees, hospitals that are demanding more sterile environments, and parents/teachers who are demanding a healthier classroom for students and teachers.

The evidence clearly supports the value in not just using a commercial cleaning company, but in using a commercial cleaning company that embraces green cleaning. Prospective patients are now using infection rates as the main reason to choose a hospital – edging proximity and even hospital reputation. Offices across the world have germs covering a wide array of surfaces that are causing employees to take an average of seven sick days per year. These progressive techniques are helping reduce those stubborn germs that kids always seem to attract, resulting in students missing less school days each year as well. This prevents both students and teachers from getting behind and helps both stay more productive. So add increased productivity to the list of reasons to use commercial cleaning companies that embrace contemporary cleaning practices. Your people deserve it.

postheadericon How to Protect your Farm and Trees Using Paddock Fencing

Article by katrinawagner

Fencing is an art. Having proper fencing to a house or a garden means safeguarding and protecting the assets. Paddock fencing, established nearly a decade ago, provides people with quality estate fencing, gates and tree guards. The specialty of this product is its use of high quality steel which is hand-crafted and has neat finishes. The paint on the fencing is done by using the latest electrostatic method of steel painting. People can safely invest in such fencing because they last for long.

Estate fencing:Enclosing horses, cattle, sheep and deer requires quality estate fencing by either rail or post fencing. Paddock fencing produces steel fencing for such a purpose based on the regulation fencing used in estates and parks. The estate fencing used for enclosing cattle and horses are pleasing to the eye because they are excellently furnished. The steel used to manufacture estate fencing is of very high quality and is fabricated by skilled welders. The fencing produced is durable, smart and very strong in nature.

The use of sprayed electrostatic paint gives the fencing a tough look. This method of painting helps to produce a uniform cover of any color on the fencing. Also, this kind of painting allows the steel to expand or contract depending on the weather conditions. It reduces the need for repainting and causes very little damage. On request from customers, Paddock fencing also provides powder coatings and galvanizing of the fencing. The best part of estate fencing is that it is conducive for all types of soil and land. Two types of fencing are produced, namely, a pre-fabricated section and a continuous estate fencing design. Other type of estate fencing includes pre-made sections or panels that are conducive for flat lands. These panels have at each end a trident foot which is fixed to the ground and the next section is bolted onto it. Such estate fencing designs are very easy to install and use. The continuous estate fencing design is quite popular because it can be assembled on-site. For lands that slope, this kind of fencing suits the best. Black is the usually available color of the fencing, but different colors can be requested by customers.

Tree Guards:Tree guards help to protect trees and plants from cattle, deer, sheep and horses. Some may also require protecting their trees or vegetation from the vandals and mowers. Tree guards produced by Paddock Fencing have enough width to stake trees. There is fencing available for even bigger and mature trees.

The electrostatic paint used to provide color to the fencing gives it a tough and a net look from the outset. There are four different sizes of tree guards produced by Paddock Fencing. To protect mature or bigger trees, estate fencing could be the answer as it helps to square or circle the trees. The installation of tree guards is pretty simple and can be done quickly. The fences are bolted together using joining clips, attached to holding stakes and are plummeted into the ground to provide maximum stability. Livestock can hardly penetrate or reach the trees.

Simon Penson writes for Paddock Fencing who are manufacturers of quality estate fencing, tree guards, iron railings, iron gates and security gates.

postheadericon The Five Elements Of Business Success – Element 3: The Business Environment

Article by James Delrojo

The achievement of business success requires many skills. Amongst these are the skill sets to assess the business environment and to capitalize on, and risk manage, that environment.

The business environment includes the marketplace, yourself and your business partners, and any external factor that may positively or negatively affect the level of your business success.

Today we are going to look at three aspects of the environment; transformation, opportunities and obstacles, and two groups of environment handling strategies; consolidation strategies, and exit strategies.

1. The Amount Of Transformation Required To Reach Your Goal

Achieving any goal requires change. It is important when setting business goals to determine the amount of change required. If the change is great it may be better to break the goal down to sub-goals in order to make success more accessible.

Start with the question; why hasn’t the business already attained that goal? This will help determine exactly what needs to be changed as well as the amount of change needed.

It is important to determine how those changes can be accomplished in the current environment by looking at the opportunities and threats in the environment and the strengths and weakness within the business.

2. Opportunities, Strengths And Advantages

Every environment provides opportunities to those who develop the skill of seeing them. Every business has its own strengths and its own advantages over other businesses. The wise business manager can determine the best combination of these opportunities, strengths and advantages and then implement strategies to maximize profit at this point in the environment.

Even in the toughest times, when most businesses are in trouble, there are always some businesses that are prospering. If you develop the skills for assessing opportunities, strengths and advantages and the habit of acting on that assessment by taking appropriate goal directed action, then your business will always be one of those that are prospering.

3. Obstacles, Threats And Limitations

The environment always contains opportunities and it also always contains obstacles. Your business always has some limitations at any particular point in time and there are always threats to your success and profitability.

Since we know that these “problems” will always exist the wise business manager develops the skill of recognizing them early and develops and implements risk management strategies to guide the business through the difficulties while at the same time the business is focusing its efforts on profiting from the opportunities.

4. Consolidation Strategies

A business requires change in order to grow but constant change can be destabilizing. The wise business manager determines when it is appropriate to consolidate the gains made so that those gains become a strong foundation on which to build the next campaign of positive change.

A thorough understanding of the business environment can help determine the best point at which to consolidate and the best strategy to implement that consolidation.

5. Exit Strategies

No matter how skilled the manager is, or how well the environment is analyzed for opportunities, and threats, or how good the consolidation strategy may be, there is always the possiblity that things don’t go to plan.

For this reason there is a golden rule that needs to be followed in every campaign; never enter any business campaign without a predetermined exit strategy.

The best time to determine strategies for how to exit a campaign with the minimum of difficulty or loss is before the campaign starts. This is when you are calm and clear thinking. If you wait until things are going wrong and the pressure is at a peak you are far less likely to find the best solution.

That was a brief introduction to capitalizing on the business environment. Now it’s up to you to put aside some time to use these five points to help you look at the current environment for your business and determine how you can capitalize on that environment to increase your business success.

This article is number three in a series on the five elements of a successful business. If you wish to read the full set they are published on my blog at http://www.successblog.jamesdelrojo.com in the December 2006 postings.

Article by Ken Rigby

Design of 3D Virtual Environments and the Digital Future.

By Ken Rigby for Tele3DWorld and MellaniuM Design. http://mellanium.com/

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8wD2nZdGQQ

Advances in 3D computer graphics have allowed application developers to integrate real-time 3D environments, with animated and interactive 3D graphics in their designs without being burdened by low level details. State of the art 3D graphics cards now support many of the 3D render pipelines in hardware. 3D graphics libraries allow programmers to efficiently develop their applications by providing higher-level data structures. Exchange formats such as VRML, 3DS, X3D, and/or MPEG4 enable distributed applications and a world-wide access to 3D content, thus increasing the number of potential users and 3D applications in a wide range of areas or domains (e.g. E-Commerce, entertainment, architecture, engineering, medicine, social networks, conferencing, education/training, GIS, leisure, Museums, Places of interest, virtual prototyping, etc.). These formats support a declarative/graphical approach suitable for authoring tools, methods, and non-programmers, whereas 3D APIs and scripts will allow more complex and powerful solutions and capabilities (such as AI) but require programming skills. As a result of the new graphics cards becoming more powerful (speed and capability), not only do you get more pixels, but you get more materials and objects in the same space. The complexity of scenes and environments will increase exponentially without ever increasing CPU overhead thus enabling more AI and Physics to be implemented.

While technical advances have laid the foundation for wide spread access and use of interactive 3D environments, there is still a significant lack of design/content experience and know how of the software tools that allow for a seamless integration of interactive 3D components into the current 3D engines and multimedia applications. More often, the development of 3D content requires an ad-hoc realization that is implemented from scratch resulting in unacceptable life-cycle development costs.

To address these problems the proposed workshops will be concerned with the structured design of interactive 3D environments and animated content using 3D models, virtual, and augmented reality techniques. An important aim is the applicability of suitable design approaches in a wide range of application areas and hardware/software configurations ranging from mobile devices over standard PCs to the graphics intensive computers. Moreover, the design support shall include content expert users (i.e. designers) and not only technical experts (i.e. 3D programmers). Therefore, a collection of reusable, flexible 3D components, agents, or Virtual Reality building blocks as well as the authoring tools to configure and compose them will be valuable in rapidly constructing virtual Real World 3D environments, models, and interactive 3D applications.

Workshop Topics:

As a unifying theme of the workshops, we will address the problems of efficient design, acceptability, implementation, and evaluation support of the 3D distributed, interactive virtual environments, models, and augmented reality.

Developers of 3D environments face questions like:

What conceptual 3D engine model is best suited to the applications.How do the 3D environments and models address the highly interactive and dynamic content and context in the 3D virtual worlds and how do they compare to traditional metaphors in multimedia design? Compare performance, capabilities, and usability of existing 3D engines for use as a 3D media provider.

Is there a clearly defined design process that aids development of 3D Virtual Real World content applications that meet the end users needs and that can be efficiently developed? The key problem is to bridge the large gap between communicative intent and technical implementation details and to provide a method that can (at best) be followed step by step even by inexperienced users or will it be better for third parties to undertake this task as with web pages.

What software tools support is necessary and currently available that allows direct mapping from conceptual ideas to 3D VRW environments and interactive animated objects?. This includes base technologies like high level graphics libraries, scripting languages, and easy-to-use visual tools. Content scripting with emphasis on 3D to 3D communication.

What about software engineering problems like reusability, extensibility, composability, maintainability, or third party development of 3D VRW environments? The key problem in designing (interactive) Virtual Real World Environment content is cost efficiency due to short development life-cycles. Thus, interdisciplinary teams need to reuse existing solutions by adapting and combining components and elements to new applications. Efficient reuse is the key in efficiently designing expressive virtual 3D worlds. Standardised concepts regarding object description, metaphors, declarative exchange formats and component-based development of 3D applications are necessary. Creation and maintenance of a standard 3D model and texture data-base is essential.

How can I guarantee that my application will be accepted by end users?Though usability in 3D, virtual, and augmented reality worlds is very important only a few approaches consider this aspect. Virtual Worlds will be judged by comparative subjective techniques (the best for the price will win). New techniques for validation and testing may have to be developed that will allow qualitative and quantitative evaluation of 3D Virtual Real Worlds and applications.

What innovative solutions exist that validate the usefulness of interactive 3D Virtual Real Worlds. Special application areas have specific requirements and therefore need customized solutions. The workshop will provide participants with an opportunity to experience, present, and discuss design, implementation, and evaluation techniques for interactive 3D virtual environments.

Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):

1. Design concepts for interactive content using 3D models, virtual, and augmented reality techniques;

2. 3D engine availability, capabilities, and performance (now and in the future);

3. VR and virtual 3D environments content development in special application areas like medicine, training & education, architecture, manufacturing, entertainment, e-commerce, engineering, social networking, group learning;

4. Frameworks, design processes, design techniques, and tool kits;

5. Base technologies for 3D content creation that provide high level access, flexible exchange, reuse, and extendibility (e.g. components, high-level layers, scripting);

6. Existing 3D-component technologies and their relation to declarative 3D formats;

7. Evaluation requirements, techniques, and tools;

8. New application areas, techniques and devices that require special design considerations (e.g., E-Commerce, mobile devices, haptic devices, head mounted displays, augmented reality);

9. Impact of the digital fusion of the many domains; on politics, education, work, leisure, etc.

Workshop participants will be expected to have visited http://www.mellanium.com be conversant with the referenced articles and have viewed the referenced videos. A live demonstration is also provided on SKYPE:joe133952

We aim to create a brainstorming session for each of the application areas to find problems and solutions to implementing 3D digital technology now and in the future.

Thinking caps on.
